WATER DRAGON FEST
The portside Town of Elmina is holding their annual Water Dragon Festival in honor of the Water Dragon Waka. Water Dragon Waka is a known foodie, so there will be a cooking competition held by the city lord as well as a variety of street vendors set up to celebrate the festivities. Additionally, the royal family of Valeria will be holding a hunt in the nearby Pouring Rainforest in honor of this event. This forest is controlled terrain so they will be releasing captive beasts into it. Choose. Do you want to help or hinder with these activities? The choices are yours.

potatoes.
[break][break]
there was nothing wrong about them.[break][break]
nephele stood before one of many vendors down the busy street of tekka city. her usual stretch of garments concealing her figure well within the mass. unfortunately it could not hide the hunger in those red eyes. although no—one else paid notice, the owner couldn't help but acknowledge a hungry and potential customer. his voice breaking her trance. [break][break]
'i'll give you one for free. you're scaring away my business.' startled by his words, the girl couldn't deny the offer. it was almost to good to be true.[break][break]
"g-give me two." the pale hand reached into the cloak. jewels emerged not a second later and the exchange was made. she continued down the narrow—way as if it had never occurred. the rawness of the vegetable lingering in her mouth, the other tucked firmly in the opposing hand. [break][break]
suddenly her shoulder collided with another. the sharp bump nearly sending nephele and her potatoes reeling. however— she was not that frail anymore. the flash of red caught the bed of silver, their eyes certainly enraptured in the glare as the girl kept moving. not bothering with some form of civility in the accident.

[attr="class","starrytext"]"ah..." did he hit someone without noticing? turning to the girl with potatoes. he'd look toward her at the ground. it was only expected he apologize, but for now he'd assist her in picking up the potatoes. "potato girl." picking up one, he'd place it in the basket, "here, sorry." he casually stated, assisting that ruby eyed ravenette.
he wondered how did this taste. taking a potato without permission, he'd bite into it raw. chewing second by second, he'd realize that this potato held a familiarity to it. a memory invading his mind as this scenario felt a little familiar. enlil, then, said, "this potato is crap." yup, this was a crap potato. he'd spit out to the side, forgetting that he should never eat an uncooked potato.
"hey, why'd you buy these? are you into crap potato or something?" crap girl. a name that had some ring to it, familiarity cascading the back of his mind as he tried to remember why they felt so familiar. ruby orbs stared into the female's own. her hair as black as night. why did this potato girl feel so familiar. enlil began to stare intensely and creepily.
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]went through hell and back again
[attr="class","kingsBody"]
the calling was oddly familiar— a sort've déja vu that was lost in the abduction of a perfectly fine potato. she watched him bite into the potato that had once been in hand. clear dread painting itself across her features. [break][break]
it was at ruin now given he had so crudely had a taste. her defeat warping into something akin to anger. thankfully nephele was good at keeping herself together and closed her eyes. one brow distinctly twitching in annoyance.[break][break]
"you shouldn't say that" the girl stated, eventually revealing the indifferent ruby eyes, "the people here work hard for their food. even if does taste like crap." it was a softer tone. contrast to the voice that had roused years before. in a time much different from now. nephele disregarded that stare.[break][break]
"be careful where you're going next time." she said, turning opposite to part ways from the strange individual. leaving him with the potato he had been so keen to state as disgusting. surely it was a misfortune on her part but, it had been free after—all.
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]scars on my mind are bruises on skin
[attr="class","starrytext"]his mouth was slightly agape. he was shocked. but it was in a way that he was merely surprised by her demeanor. it gave him a strong sense of familiarity, like he'd been through this dance once before. but that would soon all be thrown to the back of his mind as a grin was etched.
following beside the girl. he had nothing to do today and she poked his interest. potato girl seemed like she'd be worth his time. it was better than visiting a brothel anyway. so, as he made himself apart of her life temporarily, enlil continued eating his potato snack. "you shouldn't be so quick to run off, especially after i was so kind to help you y'know." he said, chewing with his mouth full.
"it's not everyday you meet a girl as interesting as you, especially with unique eyes." those ruby jewels matched his own. enlil, for a mere second, wondered if they had some sort of connection or if it were just coincidence. "what's a gal like you doing out here in a place like this, and buying potatoes of all things." looking at the half eaten potato in his hand, he'd add, "potatoes that aren't even that good." and so he'd toss it behind him.
what was that thing people did when they felt bad for doing something? oh, right, apologized. "look, i'm sorry if your father was one of those 'hard workers'. how about i buy you some actually cooked and season steamed ones? i could go for some cheesy ones!" patting his stomach as he talked about food. it made him pretty hungry. but why did this girl interest him? she was the first thing in a long time that made him feel intrigued about something. "do you live here?"
she'd better not had given him the silent treatment.

nephele gave him the silent treatment. [break][break]
all the while wondering how somehow could blabber onward for so long. his voice flooding her train of thoughts like a buzzing insect. her hand itching to snap forward alongside the potato in one sudden and violent swing.[break][break]
—and then came the offer. [break][break]
stopping immediately the girl turned back to face the other. there was a strange determination etched within her usually colorless features. tinted by a slight blush. [break][break]
"i-i accept your apology and the meal." she said, both of her hands reaching for one of his own, "anywhere is fine. you might even get a few answers out of me." the lips quirked into a smile. it was a sly and obviously mischievous expression.[break][break]
nephele didn't mind dealing with the blabbermouth if it resulted in a nice meal. her gentle grip releasing the larger hand as she awaited for him to lead the way. imagining the delight of freshly cooked potatoes.
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]scars on my mind are bruises on skin
[attr="class","starrytext"]"hoho?" hands holding his own. he'd stare at them for a brief moment. he never held the hand of a woman in such a way before. her hands were small, soft even. but that was all drowned out from the noise his stomach made. "okay, then. maybe we'll get you talking with some booze, let's go. i know a great place." holding onto one of her hands. he'd begin to tug her along.
he escorted the duo to a family restaurant regarded as "iron beef, this place has a lot of...uh...what was that word again?' he'd think about it upon explanation. "oh right, cuisines! ah man, i'm so excited. i haven't been here in forever. they also have pretty good beer, but i wouldn't try the beer surprise!" idle conversation was being made. one that she probably didn't care for, so he'd cut to the chase.
elbow on table, chin resting upon his palm. he'd cheekily smile, saying, "so porcelain doll, tell me your name and where the hell did you come from? someone with a face like yours wouldn't be easy to miss." she had beauty most women would kill to have and many men would want to ravage. a fox-like gaze stared sharply at the girl. almost as if he were trying to find a window into her mind "are you from cat's cradle, did that bitch Elysia Vadala send you here to spy on me?" a coy smile was given.

surprisingly the hand was taken and the girl was tugged along. her usual ornery nature unable to turn down the potential meal. [break][break]
if it had turned out to be a sham— then— she'd deal with it the way she always had. though there didn't seem to be anything particularly suspicious about the man. besides the fact he wouldn't shut up. quite the notable contrast.[break][break]
despite not offering a word in the explanation, nephele had been listening. the majority of her concern settled upon the slightly crowded restaurant. paranoia tormented the girl as she tugged the hooding further down. thankful that most were to preoccupied to pay notice. then again— she could never take that chance.[break][break]
after ordering whatever it was they desired, her gaze shifted to those same red eyes. it was unusual that they shared the same color. in—fact this would've been her first time meeting another. however the features did not shift upon the apparent compliment. [break][break]
"well." nephele started, considering her choice of words. there wasn't much harm in speaking of the past. not many people which came from that place were still alive."aside the forest of zephyr. i lived outside of the village there with my father." she grabbed the eventual drink and took a sip.[break][break]
"unforunately it is long gone by now... not many people remember such a place." images of the past were lost in the onslaught. one lonesome hunter was all that kept the girl alive in that cold forest. thinking of it did not lighten her mood in the slightest.[break][break]
"no. luckily for you i am just a rogue." it was curious to know whether or not the other was affiliated with a guild himself. nephele kept her lips sealed however— especially as their food had now arrived. those deep red eyes dazzling with euphoria for the present meal.
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]scars on my mind are bruises on skin
[attr="class","starrytext"]"forest of..." he hesitated a moment to finish. hues slightly widened as he tried to hold back his astonishment. "...zephyr." a twitch in the back of his head sparked a memory. he remembered a little bit, but not enough. this girl was from that place. the place that was all but a fleeting memory. something he no longer could, nor wanted to, remember.
as their meal came. he'd come to stare at the steamed potato and mushroomed spaghetti. "that town's long been since gone. why is it that you remember something like that?" why couldn't he. the only thing he could remember was that he had a father who, also, happened to be a dragon. everything else was but a simple, still image. flashing from one point to another.
"i don't remember much. and maybe it's because i don't want to, but that place..." eyeing his meal. he wouldn't respond immediately. he merely just spun his fork within the spaghetti, thinking on what to say. "i've been to that forest before, but the town you mentioned. i heard rumors about it, whispers. that place was over siege by a group of corrupt magic knights." eating his meal, he'd take a bite before continuing.
"the fact someone like you slipped and made it out of alive is something. you're the sole surviving member." which begged the question. if she were a rogue mage, what was she doing here in tekka? "are you traveling? do you live here?" did she, too, hate the crown--the royal family--just as he?

[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]went through hell and back again
[attr="class","kingsBody"]
her gut twisted into alarm as he expressed familiarity for the place. nephele had certainly come from the village yet her home had existed outside of it. the harsh life of the forest a result of what the knights had committed. [break][break]
although it had not been immediate— she knew the man that had taken her in was not her blood—father. still the girl thought nothing of it. there was one thing that tormented her and one mission she'd follow through. the innocents which died deserved that revenge.[break][break]
"unfortunate, isn't it?" she said, taking a bite of one of the many potatoes, "even if you begged for vengeance those wouldn't care. how could they when they don't even remember." nephele had tried before. the forthright cry for this act leaving her as a target. but now— she was the hunter rather than the prey. the karma they couldn't foresee.[break][break]
"i'm a traveler." the girl responded, briefly looking his way. the flicker of mystery seen in her eyes. "i live nowhere but— i live everywhere i guess you could say." a well—said expression given her previous words.
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]scars on my mind are bruises on skin
[attr="class","starrytext"]"alright then, miss traveler." he uttered, eating another bite. "so you're saying you don't want vengeance for those people?" if he understood correctly. "do you hate the royal family for not scolding their soldiers for taking the lives of innocents?" he sure did. he didn't know what he'd do if he met one of the children of the royal family. he'd probably kill them, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
"i mean, what if you met one of the members of the crown? would you not seethe with rage for what they did?" enlil spoke with a mouthful. "i don't trust the kingdom mage to do a damn thing for the people of this continent. why do you think we have guilds?" though, he's not one to talk. he didn't want to join a guild at first. he only took up the request to join one because of the money.
guild mages were paid more after all. "if i were you i'd find a guild to join, get strong, and find the people who took what was most precious to you and just kill'em." enlil long sought hatred for his tormentors wasn't gone, but he had no intention of hunting them down. but his disdain for those sat upon the throne? well, he'd have to meet someone from the royal family to fully decide what his course of action would be.
to kill or not to kill, that was the question. "wanting to take revenge isn't a bad thing at all. some people think it won't mend the heart, but, in all honesty, it'll do something." enlil said, taking another bite of his meal.

[attr="class","kingsBody"]
"would you?" she asked, placing her utensils down. the contents of the drink nearly gone but the affect remaining nonexistent. "once you've delved to deep into that world. you won't come out the same." rubies were concealed momentarily by closed eyes. [break][break]
"if you make a mistake. they'll use it against you forever." it was curious that he didn't know who she was. then again— maybe it was relieving. at least there was another who knew of her home. who recognized the sickening turn. brushed aside as though it'd been nothing. the dead couldn't speak after all.[break][break]
yet— here she was.[break][break]
"the darkness may stem from the kingdom but, it isn't everywhere." taking a bite of the delight, she continued after a few appropriate chews, "its like a puzzle. the more pieces you find the more it starts to make sense." nephele smiled alongside her words. "not all of them. rather than hate them for what had happened. i wish they weren't so ignorant. they've been clowned like children." she held up her index finger, the gesture of continuation. [break][break]
"but— i'd be stupid to think the entirety of the crown is innocent." the vile figure was like a disease. it would spread and affect the rest. the issue resulted in finding the source. something the girl didn't expect to find soon. her capability was far weaker than what had been told. the mystery yet to be solved.[break][break]
he was right. revenge certainly didn't mend the soul. the accidental murder made sure that she'd live a life of solitude. "i've tried." nephele said taking another bite, "honestly— i'd bring a guild more trouble than you'd think." friendships broken by the knights desperate to find her. the false tales that none persisted for explanation. was it alright to be this honest?
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]scars on my mind are bruises on skin
[attr="class","starrytext"]"well, you're right about one thing. i don't think i've been the same since." then again, you'd actually have to had known yourself during the years of adolescent. he never knew his birth parents, where he was born, or if he was even from this continent. but it didn't stop him from creating something from nothing.
"what an odd thing to say, miss gloom and doom." he called the girl. a nickname given. what she'd said would sound probably selfish to another person. at least, it would sound selfish to someone from within his guild; perhaps ezrik. the righteous holy soldier who saw the good even within darkness--or so he assumed. perhaps he was more ill-suited to attempt to convince someone to join a guild. "don't worry, i'm not the type to wanna convince someone to join a guild. a guild just doesn't suit me either, just in it for the money."
words couldn't have been spoken any truer. "so you sound like you hate the crown more than the soldiers on that fated day. why's that? is it because they choose to ignore the corruption in on this continent--in its people?" enlil asked. drinking a sip of grape wine. eyes darted forward.
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]went through hell and back again
[attr="class","kingsBody"]
fully done with the meal— all that'd been left was the drink. the teetering motion of a refill that continued throughout an unheard conversation. pale fingers carefully held the glass. teasing the contents within by sipping every so often. appeasing the slight silence that lingered in her absent voice. [break][break]
"would you have preferred a happier story?" nephele questioned, smirking, "for some reason i think you'd believe me if i told you anything."and then an insult. short—lived of any opening for retaliation as the girl continued to speak. "what about you? what do you think?" leaning forward— chin in palm— the red bared intensely in the direction of the silver haired man. truly cunning.[break][break]
"for someone who talks so much i'm surprised you barely have anything to say about yourself." any fragment of suspicion from before was long gone. this was her game. she'd gotten herself ensnared by the offer— by the food— and then by his curiosities. yet he still didn't know. it was either remarkable or simply intimidating.
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]scars on my mind are bruises on skin
[attr="class","starrytext"]the bridge of his nose became bright red.
the girl was speaking. he couldn't properly dissect it, but he felt as if she were pursuing a desire to interrogate or intimidate him--maybe both. he'd look her, a slight hiccup ensuing as he'd continue to drink from the contents of his cup. "woah, never knew there was another girl on this continent who could put it all away like that." he randomly stated, noticing how quickly she devoured her meal. this woman was a beast just like the other.
"well that's because you haven't asked me any questions." he was a bit confused for the time being. he tried to gather himself as she spoke. wiping his mouth with a plain white napkin. "what about me? what do i think?" he repeated. "think what about?" he asked. she was confusing or maybe he was confusing himself. a lot was happening in the midst of their conversation. he'd take another sip of his grape wine, chuckling all the while. "you're a funny gal, potato girl." enlil stated.
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]went through hell and back again
[attr="class","kingsBody"]
surprise encroached the smiling features. blinking owlishly at his confusion till it had enraptured her in the sudden humor. laughter slipped by parted lips— the supporting hand now covering her mouth within the act. [break][break]
"a-about the crown! what else!" she stated— gradually fading of the large smile. the index finger ridding of a stray tear. it had been some time since nephele last had a laugh. "well... you're right." the quirk of bliss remained but it was gentle. a whisper of secrecy on her delicate lips. her eyes were back on him.[break][break]
"it's odd we haven't introduced ourselves." extending her hand across the table, it was a notable gesture that awaited the other, "my name is nephele and you are?" not giving any forethought to the honesty of her calling, it would have seemed the alcohol was getting to her. everything which occurred felt as though it were all a figment of the imagination.[break][break]
it was just to good to be true.
