WATER DRAGON FEST
The portside Town of Elmina is holding their annual Water Dragon Festival in honor of the Water Dragon Waka. Water Dragon Waka is a known foodie, so there will be a cooking competition held by the city lord as well as a variety of street vendors set up to celebrate the festivities. Additionally, the royal family of Valeria will be holding a hunt in the nearby Pouring Rainforest in honor of this event. the night should offer solace: to the weary in need of rest, to the seekers of solitude, to friend and stranger alike. but greed had made a mockery of civility; fear had shattered peace of mind. terrors—imagined or otherwise—dwelt on the verge of thought and stalked the dark corners of the city, gazing outward with malefic eyes and purpose. in every gloomy alleyway there skulked a fiend; around every corner a cutthroat; in the distance a waylayer.
rebecca's light take them all, he prayed.
as their course through the streets meandered like his thoughts, bell observed no looked-for sign nor mark of any sort in the figures of rare passers-by. had no mage a yearning for justice? a base desire for jewels?
only the sudden jolt of collision roused him from his musing. fixing his glasses, he saw now that monoceros stood still before him, peering ahead with slightly lifted head, her body angled to best protect his like a shield. her horn shone softly with a silvery light that owed nothing to the hanging moon overhead.
quietly, bell raised the hood of his robe... and waited.
only an intervening silence filled the night air, until, inevitably—
"reveal thyself," the unicorn spirit uttered at last, her tone cool and authoritative.
