Description

With the festival activities drawing to a close, the street vendors and civilians are anxiously trying to sell out the last of their foods and services. The closing event for the festival is usually the announcement of this year’s hunt champions, but as the city lord busily sets up the stage, a rumbling shakes Elmina and all of its inhabitants. A sickly sweet smell begins leaking into the city streets. The source is this sickly scent: The Pouring Rainforest.

A shrill scream echoes in the city center as three large beasts come barreling through. Tossing caught-off guard civilians into a riot, they swing around recklessly in a delirious vision. Their bodies are larger than the average beast, and even from the distance one can tell that they are radiating alarming amounts of ethernano. Two of the beasts clash and their ivory tusks strike against each other with vigor.

People are scrambling; some scream for help while others desperately seek out kingdom mages. Something is causing the beasts released for the hunt to rampage, and more and more monsters begin to flock to the city. Someone needs to do something before there are any civilian casualties! Your mission if you choose to accept it: protect the masses and take down the beast!

Guidelines

This thread is an extension of the water dragon festival event! Participation in the first event is not mandatory. If you participated in the hunt and have not neutralized your beast, it will start making its way to Elmina and will begin to rampage.

For Rune, the water dragon festival was not quite the time of relaxation and celebration as it was for many others. She felt she had to be extra vigilant to ensure that her ward, Lyme, wasn't endangered by the random faces in the crowd. It was far too many people to properly keep an eye on, and so she was really glad that things were starting to wind down and she could drop her own tension a notch.

She stood at a corner, debating on catching some of the delectable scents still wafting their way across her nose, from where she stood at a corner, ears obscured by a hooded sweatshirt designed to hold her ears and make it just look like a stylistic choice. She couldn't do much about hiding her tail so Rune just did her best to just not move it around to draw attention to it. Which could be very hard as some of this food smelled so good...

The woman's reverie and potential unconscious drooling was brought to a halt at the sounds of screams from a few streets over. Normally, that wouldn't bother her, people got excited at festivals, but these were not excited screams. She was an expert after all, she lived with Lyme. No these were screams of terror and fear. "What the...?" Wanting to know what was going on, she took off, heading for the origin of the noise.

The knowledge of the festival’s passing made Hilbert very disappointed. After all, he found himself enjoying the celebration to his heart’s content, like many of the other people in the city. It wasn’t every day that the boy of the forest had the chance to participate in a major event. He needed to savor it. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. However, there was no reason to stop enjoying himself.

He was in front of a food vendor, shoveling food of different types into his mouth. The poor man had a lot of food left over from the festival. Was it really greedy of him to not buy it and help him run a business? Of course not! The thought process made the young mage day away, happily. Money from his coin purse was thrown to the vendor and he even bought some for a kid next to him.

The boy’s monstrous eating came to a stop after the sound of screaming reached his ears. His keen hearing picked up the sound of loud, violent, and monsterous stomping coming towards him, over all the screaming. Letting his instincts take over, he grabbed the kid next to him and jumped out of the way of a rampaging beast. It destroyed the vendor, but the owner was able to escape, thankfully. ”Well that’s not very nice of you. Destroying a man’s business like that. I was paying good money for that food too.”

Hilbert backed away from the beast and channeled his mana into one of his spells. ”Mud Shot!” His magic channeled itself and the result was several mud balls being shot at the beast. It wouldn’t do much, but his hope was to use the mud to slow it down.

Edgar felt the silver key snag as he drags it through the air. At that point he turns the key, as if opening a lock midair.[break][break]

"Open, gate of the bird."[break][break]

The wind beside him blew with a passion before compressing and solidifying into the bird of paradise, Apus. She took to the air immediately. The flapping of her wings gave life to the fallen leaves on the ground as they too took to the air. [break][break]

"Give forth thy blessing, Rebecca. That these terrors will not pluck thy people." The mage split his hands in sync with the prayer's ending. His gaze follows his spirit, who hung in the air above Hilbert Fada . [break][break]

"Raise thine head to the sky and sing." Wind rushes by the heads of fleeing citizens, drawn towards Apus. It rushes into her mouth. "Roar of paradise!" Back out of her mouth comes the wind taking the form of tornado. It sucks in stray food and cloth from the vendors as it spirals towards the invading beasts.[break][break]

she still feels like dancing, but everything seems to be winding down.

her fingers weave through the air, and she hums thoughtfully as she's looking at the wares of the vendors left. some of these might actually be interesting to have in her shop, considering it's all the way back at the capital. so of course, she's at ground zero when everything goes topsy turvy and down the rabbit hole.

when the beasts burst on the scene, lyme startles. people are screaming, and others are streaming in. there are actual mages trying to help, but she knows it's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. an expression crosses the light blonde's face, one that her stalwart bodyguard would know means business. and that's when she takes in a deep breath.

"ALRIGHT! EVERYONE CALM DOWN! EVACUATE IN ORDERLY FASHION! ANY MAGES AROUND, PLEASE TRY TO HOLD THE MONSTERS BACK THANK YOU!" she yells. if there's one thing to say about lyme's lungs, is that they are powerful. she's nearly constantly screaming, yelling or speaking loudly thanks to the assassination attempts, the kidnappings, and what have you. she's learned to make herself heard. and well, it did help she had made a sort of makeshift megaphone with some left over cardboard.

and then that got stolen by the small tornado, and the blonde is trying to scamper backwards, hoping that her shouted words had been heard amidst the chaos - because it was fully possible that it was too loud for most to hear her, but she is confident in her lungs - and that more mages would show up. in the meantime, she's looking for a decent metal pipe, because even if she doesn't have magic, she'll help!

probably get in the way, but she'll help where she can! she just hopes rune can hurry up. and that's when she sees two people standing mostly calmly, and finds a decent pipe. dragging it along with her, she runs up to them. "you two are mages, right? I know of at least one more, so I guess we're the resistance!" she said, laughing softly. it might seem odd for her to laugh, but there's a hardness in the pawn shop owner's blue eyes, something forged from years of misery and pain. "so, any plans?" she queries them.
