WATER DRAGON FEST
The portside Town of Elmina is holding their annual Water Dragon Festival in honor of the Water Dragon Waka. Water Dragon Waka is a known foodie, so there will be a cooking competition held by the city lord as well as a variety of street vendors set up to celebrate the festivities. Additionally, the royal family of Valeria will be holding a hunt in the nearby Pouring Rainforest in honor of this event. This forest is controlled terrain so they will be releasing captive beasts into it. Choose. Do you want to help or hinder with these activities? The choices are yours.

[attr="class","starrytext"] he stole a broadsword from a participant who planned on entering the hunter's event. with a white-hooded cloak draped over his body. he whistled a tune as he stood outside of a nearby town that led into the red dessert. he was awaiting for his ally to arrive.
he was told to not go in alone. just what exactly lived within in these red lands? it couldn't be as bad as they're making it out to be, right? dusting off the armor-plated glove covering the palm of his right hand. he'd expel a loud yawn as boredom became to set in. "this isn't going to benefit me in anyway. why am i even here..." he groaned. plus, he was hungry. and the air out here didn't very well taste good. any attempt to eat it would involve him choking on grains of sand.
great. just his luck to get stuck with something so bothersome. this just wasn't his day. "where the hell are they, i wanna get this over with." enlil complained.

the desert wasn't kind to him. it was hot and dry, but he can manage.
a hand hovered over his eyes as he tried to see beyond the horizon without the sun glaring back at him. he finally sees a figure from afar, causing him to pick up his pace.
with every step scattering the sands behind him, he eventually meets up with a person familiar to him.
"hello, hello!"
the coincidence was highly improbable, but he did not think much about it. he had learned that enlil was a person he would like to have his back. he was kinda reliable when it came to combat, but other than that...
he shifts his thoughts to a different topic.
"you still have that thing with you?" he asks curiously as he notices the sword he held.

It was hot. It was sticky. It was dry. This was not what Vincent had in mind when he took up the request from Lady Caprisun. If anything it was the farthest thing from his mind.
Ugh, there was no shade, he drained his canteen sometime three hours back, and he swore he had sand in places there shouldn't be. Ever. "..." Tired eyes searched the vast horizon as his black cloak stuck to him like a second skin he was mentally about to lambast every single god in existence with his deep displeasure.
Memories of his time with Vennefer entered his mind as he could just imagine what the overgrown lizard would say to his whining. 'You're my childe, like it or not - act like it! Grow a spine! Do I need to throw you into "The Pit" again?!' That put a shiver down his spine. Gee Whiz, yet another thing to repress! Anddddrepressed.
Oh look - there were people there. Maybe the heat was getting to him but he swore he saw two young men standing around in the middle of the goddamned desert. Squinting and realizing the two weren't hallucinations of his tired and wary mind Vincent concluded that he had in fact not gone insane... yet.
Stopping some feet away from the two (far too chipper for his liking) lads in front of him he spoke. "Looks like I'm not the only one here it seems... Goodie." He snarked as lightly as possible. Keyword, "as possible". Honestly, all he wanted was to get this mission done so he could head home, down a whiskey, and sleep off his suffering naked in his own soft bed.
[attr="class","starrytext"] "oh? cain, i didn't expect to see you again." he'd assumed it was a one time thing. great, hopefully the kid wouldn't slow him down. though, that's not saying he didn't enjoy his company last time. the guy seemed like a 'yes man'. it was weird, but enlil liked that. although it is possible he could be confusing the 'yes man' for someone who's merely brave and adventurous. but that would all be pushed to the side as a third newcomer emerged.
"i don't remember being told about a third party." a hand was placed upon his hip, head tilted as he eyed the sour faced male. "yo." enlil greeted. "as long as you can keep the more the merrier, name's enlil. en is fine." turning his back on the newcomer, enlil headed off. taken the lead while etching them to come along. "walk and talk boys," he lazily spoke.
he'd meet enlil's somewhat unamused greeting with a cheerful grin along with a suppressed "hehe!" both of them were seemingly surprised with the reunion, which uther wouldn't really fault him about.
wide eyes would turn to the newcomer as his steps sounded in an otherwise quiet dessert. aside from dry winds battering them and idle chatter, there really wasn't anything else to muffle any other noise in the vicinity.
"hello," he'd greet.
he offers a smile before he turned to follow enlil. a bag hung behind his shoulder, never quite fixing it as he kept up the pace. he was more concerned about covering the distance than anything else at this point.
[attr="class","ren"]WITH NOTHING BUT POISON IN MY VEINS
En, as he was called was incredibly eager to get this party started it seemed. So much so that he forgone introductions while stationary. Walk and talk it was then.
He pointedly ignored the red eyed male's comment on keeping up and instead focused his steel blue gaze on the distant horizon. Cain as he was called was also eager, and seemed to have some sort of past history with the silver haired man.
Friends perhaps?
Nonetheless, this was indeed a strange trio they had going on here. Two buddies and him, the third wheel. Not that it bothered him, he had worst company before.
In his line of work you dealt with some of the most appalling mages in the business. Two rambunctious "kids" were easy to handle than some hardened criminal with a chip on their shoulder.
Something about this mission was bothering him though. Like an annoying itch he couldn't scratch. He didn't like this. Not at all. A dragon's instincts were rarely wrong.
Or so said his Draconic mentor - and she said a lot of shit. Still, he didn't divulge his thoughts to the other two - instead keeping his musings to the inner trappings of his mind.
[attr="class","starrytext"] leading the party with raised arms behind his head. his posture showcased a nonchalant worry. he was neither tense nor calm, just bored. enlil didn't expect much to come from this mission. walking ahead of the group he listened as to what went on behind. the man's name was 'vince'? one of unfamiliarity. so enlil didn't have to worry about remembering him by face thankfully.
he was bad with that. he only remembered cain because their meeting wasn't that long ago. "so vince, you a rogue mage or got a guild?" enlil asked. looking over his shoulder, he'd also speak to cain (uther valeria), "and what about you? i didn't even peg you for the type to go on something like this, led alone a guild-type. i thought you were a resident of that town we were in. i'm assuming you're both from cat's cradle or some small time guild?" thinking about it. that wouldn't make much sense. wouldn't they know each other?
well, to be fair. he didn't know ezrik all that well and he's a veteran of the guild. enlil, thinking about this, continued to scan the desert. awaiting to see some sort of abnormality.
he'd scratch his chin upon being met with a question that he wasn't quite ready to answer. there was nervous chuckling to buffer up his answer, though he supposed there wasn't anything wrong in telling him the current state he was in.
"hehe... i don't really have a guild."
affiliating in one makes him easier to track, if his family does plan on doing that. it was no secret that his father, the king, doted on him, and thus, have been overprotective towards him. it was annoying not being allowed to go to dangerous adventures, but that was why he left.
"i'm just a traveler," he continues. "just taking odd jobs like these to make ends meet, i suppose."
he tries to find any marks of any influential guild in enlil's body, though it doesn't seem that it was visible. that, or he was just blind and couldn't find the obvious.
[attr="class","ren"]WITH NOTHING BUT POISON IN MY VEINS
Enlil was too nosy, a trait like that was dangerous to have. There was not much he could do but answer - with a lie.
"Yeah. I'm apart of a guild." He stated before continuing. "It's a tiny guild you probably never heard of, recently instated." He glanced disinterestedly at the endless sand around them before flicking his gaze towards the two mages he fell in line with.
"We're called 'Giant's Bane', we're brand new." He lied smoothly. As much as he hated to, it was necessary - got to avoid any unwanted quarrels if possible. Plus he wanted to finish this mission as quickly and smoothly as he could.
As the three of you advance into the desert, you notice a change in the sand. The further you get, the more obvious it becomes that this sand’s been dyed bloody red. There are no signs of violence as the red desert swallows the excess of war. You may choose to investigate or push on further. [attr="class","starrytext"]"ah, what a dumb name." enlil nonchalantly replied. the proper term would've been 'odd' but he was horrible with mannerisms. "guilds are bothersome. they're not really worth joining in my opinion, i merely joined for the money." and that was all he needed to keep himself motivated. it was hard to make an earning as a rogue, you'd need to take various jobs in order to make ends meet.
how cain does it is unknown.
as they furthered their walk. it wasn't until the sand began to become to a red coloring. it was so deeply red that you'd almost think someone was slain here. "this place is bathe in the color red. looks like a sea of blood or something," he'd continue his walk. ignoring the newly developed area. "it wouldn't be called the red desert for nothing, but it'd suck if we just sat here and search for nothing but more sand. the only thing out of the ordinary is that the sands colors have changed." everything had something to do with magic. so whatever caused this must have been magic related.
"maybe there's some sort of sand creature we need to fight in order to turn the sand back to normal. maybe there's some powerful demon at play." he chuckled, emphasizing on the word 'demon'. "yeah, right. like demons exist." enlil snickered.
he couldn't say that he knows anything about giant's bane. perhaps it was really brand new as vince mentioned. uther wouldn't pry on the matter too much.
he takes note on enlil's opinion about guilds. "money, huh? that's a valid point." he took a large sum of money with him when he left his previous residence without permission. he's careful with it, but he can't say that his monetary situation's getting any better with each job he takes.
fights are mentioned. uther's spirits liven up (as if they were down at all) as he finger guns the red sand by his feet playfully. he had not noticed the transition of the sand's coloring, but they changed anyways.
"that would be fun," he chimes in agreement. "much easier than going to a library to find ways to lift a curse or something too!"
he doesn't actually believe that he can defeat a demon by his own. he'd seen enlil fight though, and they have a third member this time around as well. they should be fine in any encounter that results in a fight.
[attr="class","ren"]WITH NOTHING BUT POISON IN MY VEINS
"Yeah. But I didn't come up with it, of course it's dumb." He gave a small amused smirk before his expression turned serious once more.
Noticing the blood on the sands he was acutely aware of just why this place got it's name. It was definitely blood. It definitely smelled like it too. You can never forget that smell, not when you've seen some shit. "A demon?" He echoed his tone disbelieving.
"In fairy tales perhaps." He paused in thought before speaking. "Though I wouldn't mind the challenge if one did exist." He was sure he couldn't fight one if they did exist but he wouldn't be against trying. Shame they were made up. It would've been a fun experience.
"Anyways, there's nothing we can do, I suppose. Let's move on then shall we?"
There is nothing else than now. There is neither yesterday, certainly, nor is there any tomorrow. Your trio pushes through the red sand. The wind is picking up now. For those with sharp hearing, you may hear the sound of bells being carried through the wind. For whom does the bell toll? You could follow the sound to find out, but will it be worth it with the weather degrading? [break][break] Chase the sound or hide from the oncoming storm. [attr="class","starrytext"]"a fighter? i like the way you think!" enlil praised. maybe this vincent character wasn't such a square after all. enlil may have misjudged him. enlil took notice of cain's, rather strange, comment. that was oddly a specific thing to say, but maybe it was just random. lifting a curse does sound more boring and tedious work.
the group continued moving ahead. and a strange storm began to pick up, but with his dragon senses did enlil, too, begin to feel something different. "that noise.." his ears picked up a strange ring,"...a bell?" and without so much as a warning. enlil would take off. holding onto his cloak, shouting, "cain, other!" follow me! the sky dragon exclaimed. not taking the time to call Vincent Hext by his name.
"there's a weird ringing coming this way!" he hoped it was someone or something worth fighting. "let's see what it is; come on, keep up!" he exclaimed to the duo behind. following the ring. gripping the broadsword's handle, he was ready to slay whatever lied ahead of the group. his excitement just kept growing with unimaginative thoughts, "ah man, ah man, finally something fun is going to happen!" enlil exclaimed with a wide grin. excited to uncover the unknown.
