Out of earshot of her partner, Henrietta, and mentally on a different planet besides, one Deneb Cygus was currently preoccupied in the engine room located at the front of the train. With a serene glimmer in her eyes and an equally impassive expression, the doll-like girl was currently passing the time stroking the magical apparatus meant to control the engine of the magic train. She was petting it like a friendly dog she had encountered on the street.

"Uh, miss...? Are you listening? You okay...? We really need to get going..."

"Everything is fine."

*Pet, pet.*

"Please proceed with your duties."

"No, that's what i'm saying, here. We can't get going unless you mov-"

"---All is well, please proceed."

"But I can't proceed if---"

*Pet, pet, pet.*

"Everything is fine. You may proceed whenever."

Taking off his hat, the engineer rubbed the back of his neck before turning to look at the conductor.

"Hey boss, wasn't there, like, another one we could, ya know, talk to...?"

"Right..."

Looking down at Deneb almost as though she were a tortoise that had crawled into a busy intersection, the conductor opened the door behind him and turned to leave. Walking at a brisk, but controlled pace, he went to find Henrietta shouting----well, shouting something.

"Uhm, excuse me miss. It sounds as if you're looking for your partner. Well, I am happy to report that we have found her, now could you perhaps do us a favor and maybe... relocate her from the engine room? We can't leave with her in the way... oh and thank you for taking this job. Huge fan of Cat's Cradle by the way..."

Slicking his big white mustache, the train's conductor gave a somewhat awkward smile as he none-the-less reached into his pocket to eye his watch...

Deneb looked at Henrietta, the tracks, the air, and then at the tracks once more.

"...If I fly I will not be able to see the tracks you found due to the canopy of trees. ...So I will not fly."

Deneb nodded before moving to follow the tracks alongside Henrietta. Deneb was listening for any rustling in the overgrowth, but so far, she had come up with nothing. There were only the stray cries of various unseen birds that Deneb could not help but not be interested in. Her face was more or less blank as she followed along. Watching Henrietta look this way or that, Deneb eventually broke the silence. It would appear that there was something on her mind.

"...This is my first festival so I do not get it. If these creatures were already caught, why release them? ...They are only giving us more work to do, and even if they are paying us should we succeed, it still all seems highly illogical... if I were to create a festival... I would simply feed my guests delicious food... I am sure anyone would agree that, that would be the proper course of procedure... hm..."

Stopping in her tracks, Deneb suddenly frowned.

"...We are not being punk'd, are we...?"

She tilted her head as her right hand quivered from the force of being balled into a fist.

"If so, only give the order and I will punish these sham celebrants like the dark guild they are."

Squinting to and fro into the distance, Deneb was currently using one of her hands to shield her visual sensors----otherwise known as her eyes----from the sun peeking in from the canopy above. Watching Henrietta, however, she none-the-less gave a little titter of a sigh.

"...but you know... if we want to eat something... all that we have to do is... go eat..."

She muttered half to herself. You see, Deneb was currently pouting. After being told by her guildmate that there was going to be some kind of food festival, the young-looking doll-like girl had been ready to leave at the drop of a hat. But now, well, this little diversion was to her just that: a diversion. Rewards be damned, free food was boon enough already.

Deneb's stomach grumbled almost as if to match her protests making the doll-girl frown. In the back of her mind she could only imagine all of the high-class fancy delicacies that were available for sample (by a famous chef no less!) only a few minutes way back towards civilization. Letting go of that fleeting thought, Deneb sighed once more. In spite of her protests, she didn't want to trample over her partner's enthusiasm.

"...have you found any tracks...? or should i try flying us upward for a better vantage...? that wouldn't be cheating... would it...?"

*whir* *whir* Hovering along just behind Henrietta, the winged Deneb tilted her head.

Remaining in the hail of fire will deal 1 level of D-class damage as the bullets collide with the target and dissipate. The maximum range of this spell is 30ft.

Deneb's range of attack with this weapon is 15ft and any enemies struck will receive 1 level of D-class damage.

NAME: Machina Soul: Unknown Derelict Airship "The Cradle" [break][break]

takeover origin: A crashed airship of unknown origin in which Deneb was discovered. She seems to have a particular affinity with the equipment on board the ship. In some ways, the craft may have been like a cocoon for the mage that has come to be known as Deneb Cygus.[break][break]

partial form description: Unlike other forms of take over magic, Deneb's machina soul produces equipment in a style reminiscent of requip magic rather than modifying her body itself. Beneath her dress Deneb is perpetually equipped with a black skintight suit featuring red 'tron-lines'. It is from this suit that the various pieces of airship machinery copied by her machina soul magic materialize.[break][break]

full form description: Not too much changes for Deneb appearance wise when she undergoes a full transformation. Deneb's eyes will glow a fierce crimson as she is wreathed in a hazy aura of the very same color.[break][break]

In full transformation, the limiter on Deneb's engine suit is released and all of her weaponry becomes available at once. In this form, Deneb is able to fully bring to bare all the capabilities of an airborne assault ship telepathically while leaving her hands free for other tasks. The only limiter on the amount of equipment she can wield is her ether itself.[break][break]

At full throttle, Deenb can appear to onlookers like the glowing core of a hive of terrible machinery.

A doll-like girl with no memories of her past. The further she thinks back, the hazier it gets. She was discovered by a Cat's Cradle Guild Mage and currently calls the guild her home. She is on a personal quest to recover her memories but doesn't seem to consider the issue especially urgent. As a person, Deneb always moves at her own pace.[break][break]

An extreme space cadet, she has fondness for machines which she will pet like animals. Her other great love is food. Known as "The Lunchtime Terminator", Deneb will rough up anyone who gets in the way of her next meal. A very curious person, she enjoys exploration, books, gadgets, and meeting new people. Most of the people she meets, however, tend to peg her as strange.[break][break]

When there is nothing to do, she will sleep. When something is a pain, she will also sleep. If something catches her interest she will pursue it with little thought of anything else.[break][break]

While Deneb seems like a hopeless case, she is in fact capable of pulling things together for the sake of her friends, which considering her personality, shows just how much she cares.[break][break]
